I use these, and I have some things in mind. Do you use? It means your computer has a program that can make it 1/2 computer and 1/2 web server

Still don't get it, you friend is google.com

It's so much more effecient to use a remotely hosted server though.

I highly would not recommend it. There extremely slow and do not offer the proper bandwidth to host a site.

Yuck.

It works the same way for hosting a game server. Ping for other players will be better if you don't join the game, and run a dedicated server.

It works well if you're at a university :wink:
Anyway, I bet I could put up a webserver that has nearly the same uptime as a paid hosting service directly out of my room.  The trouble is that it has to disappear over summer break.
Nonetheless, there's nothing wrong with hosting a personal website at home.  That way you can put up things like picture galleries and multimedia without paying absurd amounts of money for bandwidth and storage.  Many home internet connections are getting 768Kbps upstream now, which is reasonable.
