School computers suck. They are so slow and have so many stupid restictons. Yout can't even change your backrounds. And they can be stupid like Googe Images is blocked  is you do a reguler serch, but if you do an advanced serch it works.

In order to make it through the world one needs some insanity.

The computers at my school are Ok computers except the old 98 and 2000 boxes in some rooms. There 2.6GHz Celerons and 256MB of RAM and 20GB hard drives with 1.5mbps dslInternet(well its supposed to be that when the internet is up). School computers are good if its a mac running os x or linux but horrible at running windows most of the time.

You must learn the magic of the https://. Use that instead of http://, it fools the filter software 90% of the time. Also, @nonymouse works great too.

The Dell's at my school are ok. But we have P2's with 400MHZ running XP, and it's very slow.

In order to make it through the world one needs some insanity.

My schools computers aren't slow at all, but if I check my 'peers' cookies, holy crap. You'll be amazed at the crap they have on their comps. But yes, they are very restricted. I can't even go on IGN on my computer at school unless I use https://www.ign.com, but then Mr. Kohler will sometimes get really mad.

Here's why they suck:

1. They even block video clips on how people do MATH PROBLEMS!!!
2. They're gay.
3. They're way slower than my computer.

They're all Black Dells that's pretty much the only thing good about them.

My school blocks anonymous IP proxy's. But I have found a way to trick the computer into changing the background.

Id like to point out something.
I am a senior, and happen to have been placed in charge of network operations at my school.
-School computers do not arrive "stupid, retarded, and slow". In fact, they arrive in a quite desireable state. It pains me to put perfectly working computers in a classroom, to come back two weeks later to find the machines in disarray. People steal parts from the computers, then come back and complain about their inability to use the computer because it is lacking a mouse.
-Regarding the internet filtering: I am sorry, but censorship drives this country. In the state of Connecticut, a public school with an internet connection, and inadequate filtering is at risk of loosing their technology funding. That means NO NEW COMPUTERS. Also, Internet filtering is a completely insane concept. Do you expect someone to correctly classify every one of the billions of web pages on the internet? I certainly dont.
-Be happy your school has computers that work at all. Its a heavy task to maintain more than 100 computers, especially when you have a population of students who seek to destroy them.

The bottom line is, quit complaining, and dont be idiots.

I agree, the computers at my school are good computers though not as fast as mine but I think their 2.4GHz Dells and 256MB or 512MB RAM and I was able to access this site at school before with a couple of other sites without it being blocked. None of the people at my school are smart enough to steal parts from it except USB and PS/2 ones.

I remember in my Freshman year, I was able to bypass the filters by using an outdated version of Internet Explorer which didnt support proxies.
