Back to School Computers!
« on: August 02, 2005, 03:07:37 pm »
Well folks, it's that time of year again.  Time to put away the beach balls, hammocks, and atomic bombs, and start shopping for school supplies.  So... anyone else getting a new computer for the school year?  I'm building one to bring to college... hopefully it lasts a couple of years before I need to upgrade.

specs:

Athlon X2 3800+
DFI nForce 4 Ultra D
2x TwinMOS 512mb pc3200
6800GT
2x 250gb sata Maxtor w/ 16mb cache + a couple of hard drives from my current compy
16x dual layer DVD+-RW
550w Fortron PSU
Antec SLK3000B case
not sure what I'm doing for cooling.  Probably not watercooling again.
20" Dell LCD
FLOPPY DRIVE!!!

Don't need one, the one I have works fine, although its slightly outdated
There is no such thing as peace and there never will be. Peace is a delusion believed by the weak. Gandhi said : "An eye of an eye would leave the whole world blind". So be it because only a blind world can experience the peace that it deserves. But there in lay the sick irony. Who will be able to see this peace? The human species is at war. The enemy walks among us nearly invisible. Only those with true discernment can see them. But only one with discernment and vision can show them to others

jeez rav...whats that, 2500-3000$?

Since ur mobo doesn't do the SATA2, i'd get them drives. If it did support SATA2, definently get em even tho they're only 160gb (grab 4)
I still think u should go huge and get a bigger psu. You know my take on this (get as big as they almost come)
1 last thing...get the samsung floppy...it was still 22$ when i bought my stuff, but it's down at 9$ now and is soooooooo quiet and will make ur compy run at 7Degrees Kelviniter!

The only thing I'll do about any computer is my custom PC. I'll get an OS on it someday.

Hopefully my dad will fix an old laptop so I can use it. The desktop will stay the same though.
Mr. Krabs: Do you smell it..that smell...a kind of smelly smell...a smelly smell that smells smelly. Anchovies.
Squidward: What?
Mr. Krabs: ANCHOVIES!
Anchovies: MEEP, MEEP, MEEP.

I probably won't be on here too much being in college and all. I will try to pop on every once in a while though to share my thoughts.
